Great site. I've had a Strat Plus with the E4 serial number that I bought new in Indianapolis, for a while and didn't quite know how to date it. I also didn't know that the color was not standard. Reading through your history, I discovered that "Shell Pink" was one of those rare colors manufactured by Fender and explains why I've never seen another one like it.

Well I'm 62 now and have been around Fender Telecaster and Strats. since they first came out, have owned a USA 63 Esquire and 72 Tele. as well as a very nice natural 90's Squire Tele. I just became aware of and purchased a very nice natural blond Foto flame.Really enjoying this guitar as well as your vast info on your website. This Tele Foto Flame feels and sounds as good as my old 63 and would highly recommend adding to any collection.
Keep up the excellent website and keep up with the pics.
Thanks
Wayne

Good morning brother , A terrific site. This is my first visit . I'm 58 and just starting my guitar lessons but have loved the sound of Strats since I first heard Jimi play in 1970.I've had cancer for 5 years and wanted to learn to play guitar all my life. After 2 Squires I just bought a 1995 Strat Ultra that I fell in love with on first sight . I decided on the Ultra due to it's uniqueness .I need to clean it up ( the whammy bar is loose in the socket and the trem-setter was never installed ,,,screws rusted and the fender - floyd rose tremelo is corroded , I may need some help . But thank you again and I love the story of your father. peace gordon

Hi I've been to this site ocasionally for several years. I have a 1962 Re-issue that I bought new in 1983, a Strat Plus I got on my 40th birthday (19 years ago). The Plus was a major surprise for me, my band was gigging at a local bar and I was using my re-issue. On the first break I went out of the building with a friend, when I returned they were singing happy birthday to me. They brought out a B-day cake shaped like a Strat in sea foam green, very cool. After a bit my Brother who was the drummer said it was time to go back on stage. When I walked into the stage area, low and behold my re-issue was replaced with the Strat Plus, blew me right away. I still have both of those Fender Strats, and since then I have bought a 52 re-issue Tele. I love my Fender family.

Admin reply: Very cool story! :!cool: Wish I had friend and family that would buy me guitars like that! You still have your Plus???

Very interesting site. For some reason, that I don't understand or agree with, the Strat Plus and Tele Plus family of guitars were never considered as "must have" guitars. I think they are just beautiful instruments. I used to own a teal green Tele Plus (rosewood neck) with a double red lace sensor at the bridge and a single blue lace sensor at the neck. I always fancied modifying it to incorporate a double blue at the neck, which would give me (as I thought at the time) the best of both worlds - humbucker and single coil sounds.

I had an Ultra Strat in blue burst. I have owned so many guitars. I own a production 1994 Fender Custom shop set neck Strat that had the same pick-up set up like an Ultra. It was in the line on a poster of Fender guitars. the fingerboard like the Ultra in ebony on a maple neck glued into a Honduras mahogany body with a AAA quilted maple top in Antique Burst. The headstock and back of neck is tinted very dark brown to closer match the body where the edge of the body on the front is so dark brown it essentually looks black in the two color burst. I have worked on all my own guitars for years as well as working for guitar stores. I put on a different pick guard and three humbuckers that have switches to make them hum/ single/ parallel mode and a fourth switch to separately turn on the neck pick up. :o
